The garden as a living space „Lebensraum Garten“: In dialogue with nature – intergenerational gardening to promote bio-psycho-social and ecological resources

“Lebensraum Garten” (Garden Living Space) is an intergenerational teaching and learning project run by the ZHAW collaborativly by Departments Health Sciences (G) and Life Sciences (N) that brings together students from health and environmental studies programs with older people to garden together. The aim is to promote mental, physical, social, and ecological health in line with planetary health principles. Contact with nature, participatory learning, and reflective encounters in the garden create spaces for experiences that strengthen future skills and sustainable lifestyles. The project combines education, health promotion, and environmental awareness in an innovative module, thereby contributing to the transformation of teaching and society.
