Informed, Not Alarmed

Designing Result Communication for Menstrual Blood Self-Testing

Emerging self-testing technologies make it possible to analyse menstrual blood and generate new forms of personal health data. However, communicating these results poses a critical challenge, as complex and sensitive information can be difficult to interpret and may evoke anxiety. If poorly presented, result communication risks confusion and unnecessary alarm. This thesis investigates how design can translate such results into clear and emotionally supportive user experiences by developing and evaluating different communication strategies for mobile self-testing applications.
